At least four people have died in various parts of Germany from accidents linked to powerful fireworks that were thrown during the New Year's holiday, according to local media reports and AFP news agency.
More than 300 people were arrested overnight in the Berlin capital, but unlike in previous years, “had no violence or major incidents”, according to German police, television reports BBC.
In recent years, the use of fireworks on New Year's Eve has been followed closely.
Some have called for a ban on fireworks throughout the country after the unrest
