Five dead were registered in the fires in Palisades and 11 others in Eaton, told late Saturday by the district judge of Los Angeles.
Before Saturday the official death figure was 11. Officials had said the figure is expected to increase as teams continue to conduct checks in completely destroyed neighbourhoods. Authorities have also established a center where people can report missing ones.
He was also afraid that winds could move fires towards the “J museum. Paul Getty” and the University of California.
Until Saturday evening, fires in Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, and Hurst cover 100 square miles [160 sq km], an area larger than San Francisco. Fires in Palisades and Eato were some 153 square miles [153 sq km].
