Eugen Cakoli from Democracy to Action has said that the Central Election Commission with the plan for placing voters' booths at the polls violates the secret of the vote.
In a Facebook post, he has said not only voters who can see each other, but also commissioners and observers can see citizens during the voting process in the February 9th elections.
This is how the Central Election Commission plans to organise seats for the February 9th elections. As you can see, the voting booths will be placed face - to - face. This decision violates the secret of the vote! ”
The “not only that voters may be exposed to each other, but also commissioners and observers will have clear views of voter movements in at least one cabin. We're talking about a3 (great) form ballot, where the hand movement at the beginning or at the bottom of the ballot, can “extact” easily voter preferences”, Calcoli said.
Chocolate has added that this is not the time since the secret of the vote is threatened by CEC decisions.
The same was true of voters' fingerprints, a practice considered a violation by the Agency for Information and Private. Despite warnings of sanctions, the CEC ignored them. It's strange why the CEC is creating conditions where voters feel exposed without full privacy during the vote?
Until the 2021 elections, this issue has been regulated in line with international standards. Therefore, the CEC urgently needs to resuscitate the guarantee of voter secrecy as its legal obligation. No voter should feel pressure or uncertainty about the privacy of the vote. The secrecy of the vote is fundamental right, not luxury.
