The Special Prosecutor has filed charges against the defendants with initial M.D. Under suspicion that he has participated in attacks on the Kosovo Police and KFOR members in protests held in May 2023 in Zvecan.
M.D. charged with “The attack on the official person” and “The participation in the crowd performing criminal acts and hooliganism”.
After the security and analysis of personal and material evidence, it has been proven beyond the well-based suspicion that the M.D., in 29.05.23, near the Zvecan municipality facility, in co-ordination and co-ordination with other defendants of Serbian nationalism from Kosovo and Serbia, through the use of violence, weapons and other strong means, have attacked and seriously exhumed the soldiers of the KFOR peacekeeping mission, and members of Kosovo police, causing bodily injuries and material damage to<1>, the prosecutor's hearing of this act at the Foundation Court in Pristina.
Violence in Zvecan had erupted after local Serbs protested the entry of new Albanian mayors into Zvecan, Zubin-Potok-Potok municipality in northern Kosovo, inhabited by Serb majority.
As a result of the subsequent violence, 93 members of KFOR, some of them gravely remained wounded.
In KFOR, they have earlier said the attack on his soldiers was carried out without provocation and that it has been “completely unacceptable”.
For the event in Zvecan, Kosovo blamed Serbia, saying the riots were carried out by criminal groups close to Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.
