CEC gives details of post-off voting, 31 days

The Central Election Commission reports that 9 January has started voting outside Kosovo for voters registered for voting via mail, meanwhile, registered voters to vote on diplomatic representation must wait for February 8th 2025.

According to the CEC, this period will be worth 84,525 citizens who have registered successfully as voters outside Kosovo who are individually scheduled to vote through the mail.

The news has become known for Economy Online by CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi.

The voting period has begun through mail for all Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote outside Kosovo and who have chosen this way of voting. This period will end on February 8th 2025. This 31-day period (9 January 8th February 2025) will only apply to citizens who have managed to register successfully as voters outside Kosovo and that during the census they are individually designated for the way of voting “by sending the ballot through mail to one of the CEC mailboxes opened outside Kosovo” or “by sending the ballot through mail to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo”, Elez said.

“Plus, Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote physically in one of the diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Kosovo, are announced that the voting process will be held on February 8th 2025”, Elesi has further said.

According to CEC data, the largest number of registered voters outside Kosovo have shortlisted voting via mail.

“From the total number of registered voters outside Kosovo is 104,924, of whom 20,399 are registered to vote physically in one of the diplomatic representations of the Republic of Kosovo, while 17,104 other citizens are registered to send the ballot package to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo and 67,421 to send the package with the ballot to one of the CEC mailbox opened outside Kosovo<1>, Elez said.

Under the Law for the General Elections, the physical vote on diplomatic representation takes place one day before Election Day in Kosovo -- February 8, 2025.

Physical vote on diplomatic representation will take place at 17 Embassy and 15 Consulates of the Republic of Kosovo, which are located in 19 different states, such as Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the US, France, Italy, Canada, Turkey, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, the Netherlands, Checky, Hungary, northern Macedonia, and Australia.

CEC Guide on how to vote through mail:

All Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote through mail, to send the package of balloting to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo or to any of the CEC mailboxes outside Kosovo, must follow the CEC's instructions for voting via mail.

Step 1: Fill out the ballot

1. Download and print ballot.

2. Political subjects are listed on the left side of the ballot. Choose only one political subject.

3. On the right side, you can vote as many as ten candidates.

4. After filling out the ballot:

• Check the ballot, place it inside the envelope, and close the envelope.

• Don't write anything on the envelope!

Step 2: Send ballot

1. Print the registration report you accepted through email during the registration period.

2. Inside the second envelope, put it:

• The envelope closed with a full ballot.

• Record release.

3. On the second envelope:

• Mark the address of the CEC mailbox (companied to this email, find the CEC mailbox addresses).

• Place a stamp.

4. Send the envelope to the nearest mail in the country where you live.

Look out! For your ballot to be valid:

• The shipment should be individual (can't include ballots for family members or other persons).

• The Zarfi must have the stamp and be sent by the State where you are registered.
