Brahimaj: Fellow fighters in The Hague to be declared innocent

The fair and politically unco-ordinated decision awaits the former heads of the Kosovo Liberation Army being tried at The Hague, their former co-ordinator, Lahi Brahimaj. He believes they will be acquitted, as well as awaiting their return to Kosovo as soon as possible. Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are located [...]
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are at the detention centre in The Hague from November 2020. The Specialised Prosecutor's Office feeds them on alleged war crimes.
In an extended judicial process, they are awaiting the end of the prosecution case this year's spring.
I strongly believe that after reviewing the evidence offered by the prosecution, then by the defence, the Court will issue a fair, uninflicted decision, and I strongly believe that my fellow fighters would be acquitted and very soon believe they will return to Kosovo”, says Brahimaj, who had faced trial himself, then at The Hague Tribunal, from whom he was acquitted in 2012.
The court, which is voted by the Kosovo Assembly, has headquarters in the Netherlands and consists of international judges and prosecutors.
Senior state officials have stated there must be mechanisms for monitoring the Special Court. But no initiative has been undertaken so far.
On the other hand, Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has said in December of last year, during a speech in the Kosovo Assembly, that if this institution were to initiate initiative for any resolution concerning the processes near Special, his party would deposit the same in Albania's Parliament.
Lahi Brahimaj, who aims to restore him to the Kosovo Assembly as MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, says he would support any initiative that has legal grounds and is in support of his former fighters.
But, of course, the resolutions don't have any effect on decision making, they probably have more than one opinion... I would consult with experts who better know the court [special] and any possibility, any legal space that will go to the support of fellow fighters, I would vote, but not without consultation with justice experts“, Brahimaj claims. /xvp/
