Former White House National Security adviser during the Trump I Administration, John Bolton, has said that Kosovo and the region should view with optimism a new American administration that will be run by Donald Trump and as an opportunity to solve problems from different perspectives.
Bolton has said he will be completely a different White House and a State Department of new people and new approaches.
“I think that if Trump's second term is like the first one, if he faces something that the Biden administration has done, his immediate reaction will be to do the opposite. So we'll see if he'll follow this pattern. But I think because of changing the approach Trump has on many issues, sometimes correct, sometimes wrong, I think the Kosovo government should see this as a new opportunity. It'll be a different State Department. It will be a different White House because because because of the nature of our political system, when there is a change of party controlling the White House, politics often differ significantly, unlike many parliamentary systems where governance can change, but the fundamental policy does not change so much”, Bolton told Express.
So I think that all the leaders in the region who are worried about the continuation of uncertainty have to say: here's a possibility, there's new access to Washington and we can see some problems from a different perspective, and maybe this will help find solutions. I think you should be optimistic about the options”, he added further.
