“The child is currently receiving medical attention at University Hospital Mother Teresa, while the father, brother and sister are accommodated at the refugee centre in Babrru, Tirana”, said in O'S report. BSH in Albania.
O The BSH thanks Albania's state institutions for facilitating this medical evacuation.
“Albania's commitment to supporting those in need is an important example of solidarity. Since many Gaza patients still require urgent medical attention, coordinated international efforts remain crucial”, It was said on notice.
This is Albania's first medical evacuation of residents from Gaza. Meanwhile, in November 2023 an Albanian family from the Palestinian enclave had been evacuated.
Children's and humanitarian rights organisations, since the war in Gaza, have repeatedly called for relief of medical evacuations from Palestinian enclaves.
October last year, United Nations Children's Agency, U n NICEF, said the pace with which sick children are being evacuated from Gaza is less than a child a day, reports the REL.
U n NICEF said that if this slow, deadly “rhythm continues, then it would take more than seven years to evacuate 2,500 children in urgent need of health care.
