DEATHS FOR OPINION
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo expresses deep concern and firm opposition to the non-legal election of the new chairman of the Independent Media Council, a move marking an open attempt by the Kurti regime to capture independent media institutions.
This orchestrated movement represents a direct attack on media freedom and plurality of information in Kosovo. Such severe interference of power in an independent institution, namely in the campaign's election range, is otherwise understood except as an attempt to control the media for electoral purposes.
Any attempt to politicise and control independent media institutions will face our decisive response. Media freedom is the foundation of our democracy and we will not allow it to become the prey to autocratic ambitions of the current regime.
The AAK will use all institutional and legal mechanisms to counter this illegal decision and protect media independence in Kosovo.
