The incident occurred when a tram, which was stopped, suddenly moved back from a goal for still unknown reasons, crashing with another fixed tram.
The images published on social networks showed chaotic scenes, with smoke rising and passengers worried inside trams.
Investigations into the causes of the accident are under way.
According to the BBC, prosecutors have confirmed that the clash was not deliberate.
So far, no casualties are reported.
