Border officials at Pristina International Airport have prevented cigarette smuggling, which through Kosovo were destined mainly for the United Kingdom.

According to the police report, as a result of police commitments and actions only during December 2024 over the months, January 2025, four cases of cigarette smuggling have been identified, with persons suspected of foreign and Kosovo citizenship trying to smuggle packages with cigarettes from various amounts to the city of London.

Kosovo police, in this case border officials at Pristina International Airport, as a result of implementing operational plans and additional commitments in identifying and preventing smuggling at the airport, have carried out some concrete actions on allegations of smoking/cigars smuggling, which through Kosovo have been attempting mainly to be designated in the United Kingdom.

As a result of police commitments and actions only during the months of December 2024, January 2025, four cases of cigarette/cigar smuggling have been identified, with persons suspected of foreign and Kosovo citizenship, trying to smuggle packages with cigarettes from various amounts to the city of London.

In the last case, which took place on January 11th 2025, has been prevented from smuggling 41 packs of cigarettes, which the male Bulgarian national suspect has attempted through Kosovo to smuggle in London, as his destination was to this city.

In these four cases, Kosovo Police, in co-operation with Kosovo Customs, have seized over 340 packages/screws with cigarettes of different types, mainly expensive types.

Kosovo police, together with competent institutions, announce the opinion and citizens that they have increased their commitments and presence in passenger controls, in which there are doubts about such smuggling.
