Pertius is an infectious disease that affects all ages, but the most endangered are children under the age of one.
During 2024, I The KSHPK has recorded 21 confirmed cases of the Pertusis laboratory, mainly in the young age, which represents a slight increase compared to the previous years. Pertusis, which is otherwise known as the good colla, is a bacterial infectious disease that involves respiratory abandonment. It's caused by the bacterium Bordetella Pertusis found in the mouth, nose, and throat of the infected person”, says IKSHPK's response
IK The KPS said that this infectious disease can appear at any age, but more often it affects children and teenagers. The most endangered are children under the age of one.
The disease spreads easily from person to person, mainly through points/sclaps from the cough or sneeze of the infected person. Symptoms usually appear between 7 and 10 days after infection, but they can appear until 21 days later. At first, symptoms are similar to those of a common cooling, including sneezing, nose leaks, low fever, and a mild cough”, the institute reports.
“The most frequent complications are in unexplored children
According to IKSCS, the most frequent complications from Pertusis, especially with unexplored children, there are secondary bacterial pneumonia, neurological complications, middle ear infection, dehydration, concessions, etc.
“Care is especially important for infants who do not yet have the time to take the first dose (0-2 - month babies), which must be protected from contact with other people (from older age), who may be carriers of infection whether they have marks or not. The best defense is to prevent by vaccinating babies from 2 months of age when the first dose against Pertusis” is said to be responding to IKSHPK for Front Online.
Unlike other diseases, such as variables, measles, and so forth, Pertusis may appear to the same person more than once in a lifetime because antibodies resulting from infection or vaccine drop over time.
IK KPS appeals to parents for child vaculation
IK THE NEPS appeal to parents to vaccinate children because each dose of the vaccine is important because they increase their immunity and protect their children from infection.
“IKSHPK constantly reminds parents that each dose of the vaccine is important because it increases immunity and protects children from infection and possible complications, therefore, urges parents to adhere very carefully to the regular vaccination calendar and to vaccinate children according to the timetable set on the calendar, because this is the best preventative”, says the IKSHPK appeal.
In Kosovo, the vaccine against Pertusis is done according to the regular vaccination calendar, where the vaccine against Pertusis is granted at age 2, 4 and 6 months, while re-evasing at 18 months old.
“Pertusis is not a new disease, it exists that many years, so the vaccine against it is included in the vaccination calendar and the birth of children, parents are informed of this disease and the vaccine to be made”.
IK The KPS consistently informs citizens through public calls and activities of the importance of protection from Pertous and vaccine as the best protection.
“Also, it makes continued active monitoring of the epidemiological situation, investigates and explores the possible cases of Pertusis, traces their contacts, reports them, legs information with health services to provide adequate guidelines about the disease, and makes surveillance of the implementation of the regular vaccine calendar, which is also involved in vaccines against the disease”
It also makes awareness of the public and parents of the importance and benefits of vaccination as the best and direct way to prevent Pertusitis and other infectious diseases that are prevented through inoculation.
Infectious Clinic Director Arben Visaj told Front Online that eight patients with the good Corla have been received in 2024.
The “from January to the present are eight cases in the Infectious with the good Cora”, Vaj said.
The director of Infectives found that symptoms with Pertous are transmitted by temperature and cough.
“has temperature, coughing, coughing that lasts and ends with bruises and vomitings, fatigue, sluggishness, loss of appetite”, Vajaj said
