$60 billion, Senate is expected to vote military aid for Ukraine today

The U.S. Senate is expected to cast the delayed military aid package for Ukraine today, which amounts to about $60 billion, as the House of Representatives approved it three days ago after much procrastination. The package, which contains much needed assistance to the Ukrainian Army, is expected to pass to the Senate during today and be sent to the American President Joe Biden by the end of the week for signing.
Beden told Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, yesterday that the United States “will soon offer new and important aid packages to meet Ukraine's urgent needs to protect”, the White House said in a communiqué.
Ukraine is facing great pressure from Russia in recent months because its stocks of ammunition and antiaircraft are slowly being spent.
The relentless attacks on fears and rockets from Russia to Ukrainian cities have caused major damage to civilians and the country's energy grid during these two years of war.
Zelensky wrote to the social network X that Beden had told him he would sign the package for Ukraine “immediately, once I accept it from Senate”.
The Senate may pass the large package, $95 billion, which also contains military assistance for Israel and Taiwan, in the afternoon of April 23rd, if reconciliation is achieved quickly for the time of the vote. If there are objections from the Republicans, it could be put to the polls on April 24th.
Zelensky also told Beden of an attack on a television tower in Harkiv, Ukraine's second largest city, which took place just prior to their telephone conversation.
“I also notified President Beden of Russia's air terror, which is using thousands of rockets, fears and bombs, including for an attack on the Harkivi television tower a few minutes before our” conversation, Zelensky said.
The rocket attack split the 240 - foot - high [240 m] television tower in two. / REL/
