Trump suggests Canadian prime minister become US state 51st

Newly elected President Donald Trump suggested to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week that if the tariff address on trade and immigration issues fails, it would be “vrit” the economy of the northern neighbour, and perhaps Canada would have to become the 51st state of the United States, Fox News writes. Last Friday, Trudeau travelled to Mar-a-Lago without warning after Trump threatened to impose sweeping tariffs on Canadian products, telegraphy broadcast.
In particular, Trump is threatening to impose a 25 - percent rate on Canada and Mexico for their failures to stem the flow of illegal drug immigrants from these countries in the United States.
Now, new details have begun to emerge about the meeting between the two men, whom Trump called the highly productive “”.
Before drinking, tariff issues, border security and trade deficits were the focus of attention.
According to two people at the table who heard the discussion, Trump, though hospitable, was very direct when it came to what he wants from his counterpart in the north.
Paraphrasing the discussion, Trump told Trudeau that Canada has failed at the US border, allowing large quantities of drugs and people across the border, including illegal immigrants from over 70 different countries.
Sources say Trump became more direct when it came to the US trade deficit with Canada, which he estimated to be more than $100 billion.
The president-elect told the prime minister if Canada cannot fix border issues and trade deficit, it will impose a 25 per cent fee on all Canadian goods on its first day of return to office.
Trudeau told Trump he couldn't set the fee because it would completely kill the Canadian economy. Trump answered asking, so can't your country survive unless you destroy the U.S. in the $100 billion amount?
Trump then suggested to Trudeau that Canada become the 51st state of America, which led the prime minister and others to laugh nervously, said sources for Fox News.
