Newly elected US President Donald Trump appointed Kash Patel, a lawyer and open critic of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as the next director of the local secret service agency.
Trump described Patel as a “avka, investigator and excellent warrior.
Patel, known for his steadfast loyalty to Trump, served in key roles during Trump's first administration, including the supervision of the anti-terrorism division at the National Security Council and later serving as chief of staff at the Department of Defence.
Before his roles in the White House, Patel worked on the Congress Intelligence Committee, where he played an important role in investigating the alleged Russian intervention in the 2016 presidential election.
According to broadcaster CNN, Patel reportedly helped Republican efforts to discredit FBI investigations into possible ties with Russia.
Trump has often expressed distrust of the FBI, accusing him of political prejudice, especially after her search at his Mar-a-Lago resort for classified documents he allegedly preserved illegally.
Patel has been a vocal critic of the current structure of the FBI.
Trump praised Patel's earlier work and claimed that under Patel, the FBI would end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the criminal gangs of migrants and prevent the evil plague of human and drug trafficking across the border.
