Through a statement, the Swedish Prosecutor's Authority said it has filed charges against three people and one fourth, accusing them of being members of a terrorist organisation and of crimes allegedly occurring between September 2023 and March of 2024.
All four people, all Swedish citizens, had been arrested in Stockholm in March after a long investigation, had declared the world Swedish police.
Prosecutors said the three men are accused of preparing terrorist attacks aimed at killing or wounding persons, but did not specify what their targets were.
The aim of this act was to, on behalf of the IS, incite fear in population or population groups and destabilise or destroy essential political, constitutional, economic or social structures of Sweden”, it was said in the indictment.
All the accused, according to prosecutors, were linked to an Islamic organisation in Tireo near Stockholm, adding that the investigation found they were also linked to organised crime in Sweden.
“The investigation found that they were related to the IS, separately to the IS at Somalia”, prosecutors said.
Meanwhile, through a separate announcement, the suspects said they had been arrested to avoid a possible attack. /Radio Europe Free
