Selmanaj: Answer to parliamentary questions is obligation, not desire

Driton Selmanaj, deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), said that in the sense of implementing democracy, the legislature, according to him, the worst has never been. “Never, I am saying at maximum responsibility”, he said, at the discussion table organised by the Kosovo Institute for Justice on the case of publication Wednesday [...]
“Never, I am saying at maximum responsibility”, he said, on Wednesday at the discussion table organised by the Kosovo Institute for Justice, on the case of publication of the report titled: “No efficiency of parliamentary investigation (Muse of will and legal problems)”.
Selmanaj said it does not have the right to choose whether to respond to an MP, as this is the constitutional obligation, to describe the tasks he comes to the Assembly and to answer an MP.
According to him, such conduct is like in dictatorship, with no responsibility. It says the ruling party has won over 50% and fears the opposition, which has been small in number.
The MP added that at least in this legislature there have been public hearings for law making, saying this Government does not want to consult with interest groups and civil society. He said that at the last session 20 laws have been passed outside the Parliament's regulation and contrary to the Constitution, the Justice Vow reports.
Selmanaj says committee hearings and meetings are called without agreement with the opposition and in recent minutes.
It was 2:00, they said to gather 1:56, 1:57, one minute left to the permanent commissions, what impressed me is like a single man to go to them to tell me, not so much that it doesn't work or wait to give him at least one hour, to invite the opposition...”, he said further.
The LDK MP said the majority of Sıiu had enough two months to write laws, while deciding on one minute.
In addition, he adds that they sought to investigate what was happening to the economic energy crisis, and the position said to investigate what happened in these 20 years but that they refused to form this commission.
When that didn't work, the abuses and descriptivity of the commissions began until the end of what didn't suit the” reports, Selmanaj said.
By contrast, the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) with the support of the US State Department, the Bureau for International Narcotics and Enforcement of Law (INL), on Wednesday, organised the discussion table on the case of publication of the report titled: “lack efficiency of parliamentary investigation (Muse of Will and Legal Problems)”. This activity is organised in the framework of “va Against Corruption 2024”, which is organised by the Civil Society Organisations Coalition (IKD, FOL, INPO) with the motto “Base Against Corruption”.
