At a solemn ceremony, acceptance was made of the Kosovo Constitutional Court's duty between outgoing chairman Gresa Caka Atje Nimani and the elected chairman, Nedimi Rexhepi, whose mandate begins on December 31st, 2024.
The ceremony was held in the presence of representatives of the state, diplomacy, civil society and the media.
In her address, Caka ı Nimani has stressed the importance of protecting the Constitution as an act of patriotism, while thanking colleagues and partners for support during its mandate.
Rexhepi, on the other hand, has praised the work of Caka Nimani and suggested that the Constitutional Court's role is the protection of the Supremeity of the Constitution, as the foundation of democracy and rule of law.
We all share the firm belief that, in a constitutional democracy, no power is supreme. Only the Constitution is supreme. So the role and task of the Constitutional Court is to protect and preserve the supremeity of the Constitution”, he has declared.
In the end, he thanked all judges of the Constitutional Court “for the confidence given to be the first among the equals”.
