Rebels set fire to Hafez al-Assad's grave

The father's tomb of the former Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, Hafez, was burned in his hometown in Cridah, according to images published Wednesday by French news agency AFP. Syrian Human Rights Monitor told the AFP agency that the opposition had set fire to the mausoleum. In an agency view AFP appeared part of the mausoleum in flames and damaged.
Hafez al-Assad has been a politician, dictator and military officer who served as Syria's 18th president from 1971 to his death in 2000. From 1970 to 1971, he served as prime minister.
His son Bashar, after 24 years in power, was forced to flee to Russia after a quick and successful offensive of Syrian rebels.
