This monitoring aims to identify and punish any possible cases of price abuse, in accordance with law “for protecting competition”.
In reporting to the media, the Authority assured citizens that it will take all necessary measures to prevent and penalise any unfair trade practice that leads to artificial price hikes, thus protecting honest competition and consumer interests.
Similar measures have been taken earlier, where in December 2022, the Authority fined four burtheners of flour with a total of about 10.6 million dollars because of secret deals aimed at fixing prices, operating in the form of a cartel.
The authority calls on citizens to report any suspected cases of abuse to prices during the festive period so that the protection of consumers and fair market is guaranteed. Reports can be made near the Competition Authority through official communication channels.
