Defence Minister Ejup Macedonia, at the weekend media conference, has said the ministry has spent 97 per cent of the budget it has been dedicated to defence.
He has added that during this mandate the number of military officers has doubled.
We've had four targets. Our army today is more powerful than ever, prepared and trained than ever, and more willing to defend our sovereignty and territory”, Macedonia said.
“During our mandate so far, 1971 military recruits have been recruited, while we are in the process of recruiting 300 soldiers, leading to a total of 2271. We have invested in military capacity building. Over the past four years, over 270m euros have been spent on military purchases, namely”.
He has addressed warnings of possible attacks that could happen on holiday days in Kosovo, statements he said had no intention of feeling fear and panic in citizens.
“Koht when these groups can conduct attacks are now the most sensitive. But also for the November holidays associated with holidays in Kosovo, but also in Serbia. No statement of ours intended to cause fear and panic. The Kosovo Army, the Police, all security institutions are willing to face any challenge and threatened to violate territorial integrity and the lives of our citizens”.
Macedonia has also said that since December 16th, the concept of self-defence to prepare food in barracks, which it stressed is guaranteeing security, higher quality and lower cost.
The concept of self resistance has actually begun to be implemented since early October. We have finally managed to create stability on our own from December 16th when we recruited the entire staff and staff to prepare food in our barracks. The supplies are being made by the Central Procurement Authority, while the entire food service is being realised with the ministry's personal capacities. This concept is being implemented and is ensuring security, higher quality and lower cost”. / EO/
