The attack has come after Lebanon's militant group, Hezbollah, has fired a hail of shells as a warning of what it has described as Israeli ceasefire violations.
Hezbollah is Iran-backed group, declared terrorist organisation by the United States.
The European Union considers the group's military arm only a terrorist, but not a political one.
The missile attack has been Hezbollah's first against Israeli forces after the parties have agreed to a 60-day ceasefire last week.
The highly vulnerable agreement envisions an end to fighting that was launched more than a year ago between Hezbollah and Israel under the expansion of the conflict sparked by the devastating war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Hamas is also considered a terrorist group by the US and the EU.
US President-elect Donald Trump has requested the immediate release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, saying on social networks that, if the hostages are not released until he officially takes power in January, the group will pay heavily.
It has not been made clear whether Trump has threatened with direct involvement of the American Army in Israel's Gaza war. The US has given Israel extremely important military and diplomatic support during the nearly 15-month conflict.
The Gaza war has erupted following Hamas ' attacks in southern Israel in October last year, killing over 1,200 people and taking more than 240 hostage.
More than 44,000 people have been killed in Israel's revenge offensive in Gaza, according to reports by Palestinian health authorities.
The United Nations warns that the situation in Gaza is apocalypse and that civilians are mostly suffering this situation. /REL
