Mehmeti, chairman of the KPM, has declared he has compiled a new regulation concerning media monitoring during the election campaign.
The “Commission is one of the public institutions, the law requires by the media itself to ensure all public media are fair during election campaigns. While under surveillance, I seek to draw out a guide for the advertising release. The broadcasters are required from the campaign period to compile political time. Furthermore, the election law has demanded KPM's a waste of time during the election campaign. In setting the limit in the amount of time, we have established this process of drafting this regulation with civil society. The goal of the KPM is to implement legal provisions and inform and consult”, Mehmeti has said.
Pascal Rossy, director of the Department of Democraticization, O Mission The SEU in Kosovo has stated that in the election process it is important that media respect the rules and that information is accessible with facts, impartial and fair.
This shows in media information and journalists' obligations to respect electoral silence. To ensure that the media establish their role has become even more challenging at a time when technology has changed into social media media consumption. But the information has become more accessible. On the other hand, digital transformation has a negative effect, it creates distrust of facts. It's very important that we have a regulation in order to have balanced media coverage. It is important that the media take action by respecting and responsible reporting election campaigns. We're proud to have support not only The KMP, but also the other bodies to move forward in line with their mandates. We've addressed the challenges of journalists reporting in the election campaign, we're focused on efficiency”, she said.
Kreshnik Radoniqi, chairman of the Central Election Commission (KQZ), has stressed that they have committed the election process to monitor with transparency for citizens.
“The CEC will engage monitors and these reports will be distributed as information. Interilateral co-operation is a must under the law, according to the election regulation that the CEC has approved will be concrete given that will be exploited by us. Political financial transparency is necessary for citizens and political parties. This is aimed at establishing transparency after any election, political subjects make the financial report and the audit process, these reports will be published in legal reports”, Radoniqi said. / EO
