Konjufca has asked the international community to increase pressure on Serbia in this case.
“Today, following an arrest in 2020, following an invented and arbitrary accusation and process against our citizen, Nezir Mehmetaj, the court in Serbia has sentenced him to 6 years in prison. Serbia's old importance that has committed genocide in Kosovo cannot produce anything new but hiding crimes on one side and inventing them on the other. I strongly condemn this injustice and ask the international community to increase pressure on Serbia, in clear voice against this injustice and in support of human rights”, Conjufca wrote.
Mehmetaj has been sentenced to six years in prison, on charges of war crimes against the civilian population in the village of Rudica, Kline in 1999.
