Zannier has commented on the Kosovo government's actions regarding the country's north, has said that the imposing actions of rule of law and without understanding with local communities have only exacerbated the situation.
As for the recent attack on November 29th on the Iber-Lepenci channel and ongoing investigations, Zannier has said he is awaiting successful investigation by Kosovo police if it is not able to ensure co-operation with the local population and potential witnesses.
“International organisations may be involved, but they may face similar problems”, Zannier said.
As for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Zannier has said he is not following closely, however, says he is a little disappointed with the slow pace of implementing the agreements.
He has already talked about Novosti, even on the EU problem as a mediator, stressing the fact that there are states in the EU that still recognise Kosovo and that the issue of enlargement is facing numerous problems.
While I was working in Kosovo, the UN policy and my goal was to include the EU, because it has more influence than the UN and something to offer. It remains today, but there are many problems. One is that the EU is still divided, with countries that do not recognise Kosovo. Second is that the topic of EU enlargement is involved in numerous problemsSo dynamics aren't as positive as it was ten years ago”, he said.
