The inspection is carried out by the IPK Executive Chief to assess the level of body cameras used by authorised Kosovo Police users and audio management video records.
The objectives of this inspection have included in addition to the assessment of legislation on the use of the body camera system, the assessment of accepted property management as a donation, the assessment of efficiency in the functioning of body cameras, the system's impact on establishing security/transparency and performance, and the assessment of security measures related to the management of digital evidence.
The IPK under the report has given the Kosovo Police eight (refunds pertaining to the need for commissions to implement periodic inventory three (3) months under the Donation Agreement, organising training in camera use and managing evidence for untrained police officials, organising timely inspections on the functioning of the system and use of body cameras.
The inspection has highlighted and addressed through recommendation and the urgent use of the body cameras by border department structures, the expansion of the body's camera system in other police units, the classification of materials registered for the purposes of their preservation and proper management.
In addition, the inspection report addresses the issue of announcement of the parties when they are exposed to exercise monitoring, as well as increased efforts by camera system administrators to process demands coming from police units tasked with using the system in question. Body cameras already available to Kosovo Police are donations from the US State Department through the Bureau for Narcotics and Law Implementation.
