Haxhi Shala has pleaded guilty, with the agreement reached for the appointment of a three-year sentence.
The plea agreement hearing will be held today, beginning at 1300.
Later, the Specialised Chambers will hold media conferences.
The chairman of the court, Mapie Veldt-Foglia, has said that the Specialised Prosecutor's Office and Haxhi Shala, in the plea agreement, agreed to appoint a 3-year prison sentence for Shala.
She has stressed that the SPS and Shala had agreed in addition, the SPS to propose that the accused be counted the time spent in custody.
“You have agreed on the appointment of a three-year prison sentence and the plea agreement- to say that in exchange for guilt from you SPS will recommend to the court a three-year prison sentence and recommends that Mr. Shala be counted the time spent in the detention of DPS”, the court has said.
In accordance with the plea deal, Mapie Veldt-Foglia has declared that the SPS agrees to withdraw point 1 of the indictment. Shala confirmed that.
Shala was announced that in the event this plea agreement is approved, he is denied the right to appeal decisions. So Shala won't be able to withdraw the plea or call for changing the sentence's decision.
Shala has stressed that she understood and agreed with what I agreed with the lawyer and the attorney with the Prosecutor.
If the decision is over three years I will appeal it and if it's three years and down, not”, Shala has said.
