The Hungarian presidency said in X that sanctions would target ships from third countries supporting Russia's war in Ukraine and would add more individuals and subjects to the list of sanctions.
Sanctions will not be adopted only after the foreign ministers approve the package Monday.
Diplomats told Reuters that the package also includes a six-month extension for the Czech Republic to import Russian products coming mainly through Slovakia.
“I welcome the adoption of our 15th package of sanctions, particularly targeting Russia's fleet”, European Commission President Ursula von der Leenen said in X.
The sanctions package will likely be officially adopted at a meeting of EU foreign ministers Monday and will target close to 30 subjects, over 50 individuals and 45 tankers, Reuters writes.
