The European Union has confirmed on Tuesday that the next meeting under dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, at the top level of negotiators, will take place on December 17th in Brussels, and that both sides have confirmed their participation in the meeting. EU's spokeswoman for Foreign Policy and Security, Anita Hyper, has said that a series of issues will be considered at this meeting, including implementation of the Agreement towards normalisation of relations.
The latest meeting at the chief negotiator level is held on 23 October in Brussels.
Kosovo is represented by Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, while Serbia is represented by the director of the Office for Kosovo in Serbia's Government, Petar Petkovic.
According to Radio Europe Free diplomatic sources, European envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has reported to member states about the state of dialogue and has said the parties have a clear lack of readiness to make any progress in implementing the normalisation agreement.
The sides have reached compliance with this agreement in February last year in Brussels, while for an annex implementation in Ohrid, North Macedonia, a month later.
The two countries have not taken steps towards implementing the pact and therefore blame each other.
EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Kaya Kallas has expressed readiness to actively engage in the dialogue process.
Lajcak's mandate, continued several times, will be completed by the end of January next year.
There are expectations that top diplomat Kallas, in collaboration with member states, will decide on the continuation of the dialogue, including about whether Lajcak's descendants will be in that post, and who he will be.
Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence, declared in 2008.
The two countries dialogue in Brussels with European Union mediation since 2011 have reached several agreements, but not all have been implemented.
