The economy ministry has come up with a report on the reductions of electricity that are taking place in the country last days. From this, the minister says that according to information from network operators, COST and KEDS, the latest <x0-meastrophies in electricity supply in some areas of Kosovo are the result of electro-energenetic system overload, not from the lack of electricity”.
According to the ministry, electricity consumption has increased in the region and in some European countries.
“currently, the distribution and transmission network has reached maximum use capacity (over 1400 MW during the day and evening. This overload is jeopardising the stability of the system and supply of certain areas, due to damage often occurring in bad weather or lack of alternative free capacity for supply”, the ministry says.
The ministry calls for consumers to reduce electricity consumption.
But, according to the ministry “these problems can only be addressed by reducing electricity consumption, and marking technical problems on the ground”.
