The country's prime minister, Albin Kurti, has indicated that the government of Kosovo late last night has made a decision since January 1st 2025 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to travel with biometric identification to the Republic of Kosovo.
Kurt made that known through a Facebook post.
The government made the already warned decision last night, with which citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1 January next year could travel with biometric identification to our Republic. In November it has been two years since the signing of the Agreement for Free Literature Movement in the Western Balkans in Berlin, as part of the Berlin Process agreements. Our country was the first to ratify this agreement in parliament. The blockades from Republika Srpska's entity have long deprived citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Kosovo of the right to free movement with IDs, at a time when the entire region travels freely towards the European Union. As we end the expectations of citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina, we remain in hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to ratify the agreement as soon as possible so that the whole region can enjoy freedom of movement. We are confident that this decision will boost ties between Kosovo and Bosnia, increase opportunities for co-operation, and foster exchanges in education, culture, sports, economies and other areas of common interest. Welcome to Kosovo! ”, writes Kurti.
