Emergency Director in the Pristina municipality Lulzim Fushtica indicated that Kosovo Police have already established the directorate for the capital's police and that the project to establish this unit is in the final phase.
“There is only location left. Everything else is concluded by the Kosovo Police and formed the capital's directorate are share of capacity and will soon be formalised.”, Fushtica for Rtv21
About 600 police officers are expected to make up the special unit to serve in Pristina. The chief police will have investigators, patrol units, rapid reaction units and other escort units. Citizens welcome this decision by security institutions.
“ But every capital has its own police, it's also very necessary for Pristina to have it because people from all sides come here, so it's very important to be the capital police.
“Yes, of course, that should be the capital police ...”
Under the first plan for the capital police, it will be formed in 2018 after the Pristina law is passed, according to emergency director Lulzim Fushtica, says it is also the location of security cameras throughout the capital.
“Already except that a portion of the cameras have been put in place and that they will be placed in all over the capital they have already produced their results and that their monitoring cameras will have their centre at the capital police station”, Fushtica said.
Knowing security issues, Bedri Elezi, says establishing the police unit for the capital will facilitate the work of Kosovo police along with regional organisation.
“With the capital police is also organised public security, especially in countries where the presence or police patrols is supposed to be needed and Kosovo police action...” would ease, Fushtica said.
Although public security in Kosovo has been repeatedly violated, the report of 2023 of the American company Gallup has ranked Kosovo on top of the 24 safest states in the world.
