Prime Minister Albin Kurti was present today, along with Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Emily Rexhepi.
In the announcement issued by the Government, Kurti was quoted as saying that there are more than double passenger liberalisation, 46% increased flights, and 16 new destinations and 16 new operators have been added.
“In order to improve the airport's infrastructure, the prime minister announced that additional facilities for air transport development have been created, such as the extension of the track from 2,500m to 3,040m, the advantage of the landing system -- Instrument Landing System (ILS) -- which has significantly impacted the airport's capacity for accepting larger aircraft and more flights, as well as the opening of the air corridor through Albania that has cut the route from the Republic of Kosovo to the European Union to 15 min152.
“Nac, based on the bilateral agreement with Switzerland, has been achieved for the first time to design an air operator for transportation of travellers between Kosovo and Switzerland with criteria set by the state of Kosovo”, the government's announcement said.
In turn, Kurti said that geographically, Kosovo is located right in the middle of the Western Balkans, which also made it a regional and strategic travel centre, and that Kosovo's development is also passed through the country's deployment as a bridge between the countries of the region and the Central and Western Europe in general.
