22 Organisations from the Albanian-American community have published a joint stance on the trial process that is continuing at The Hague Special Court to former KLA leaders. The Albanian-American community is said to be deeply devoted to ideals of freedom and justice.
However, they add further that when freedom is taken arbitraryly and justice is manipulated as a political tool, it becomes the duty of citizens to resist and expose such injustice.
The fact is noted in this letter that no charges concerning organ trafficking have been filed, though the Special Court has resulted from Dick Marty's report on organ trafficking claims.
It is now evident that these charges are entirely fabricated for political purposes”, the stance of these 22 Albanian-American organisations says.
According to them, the Special Court, rather than engage in its original mandate, is engaged in actions that violate justice and peace.
“Four years ago, without an indictment, the president of Kosovo was detained while traveling to the White House to sign a historic peace agreement with Serbia. This arrest was clearly intended to sabotage America-led efforts to ensure peace in the region. Since then, nine other prominent Albanian officials, including the current and previous prime minister, have been arrested, but no Serb has been brought to justice by this court”, the letter points out.
This letter also mentions meetings that the Chief Criminal and Prosecutor of the Sepciate have had meetings with foreign diplomats, but not with officials of the Republic of Kosovo, though the Court is a body released by the Kosovo Parliament.
This organ doesn't even know the flag of the country that created it. Such actions undermine Kosovo's sovereignty and its hard-earned independence, which was recognised by the International Court of Justice and over 100 countries worldwide”, it says on paper.
At the end of the letter, these 22 Albanian-American community organisations have called on President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti to use their influence to put international attention to what is happening in The Hague. In addition, Prime Minister Kurti has called on him to lift the restriction of funds available to the detainees in The Hague in order to ensure fair protection.
The Kosovo Assembly has called for immediate hearings on the issue.
“Judges and prosecutors of the Specialised Chamber should be called to testify about the court's mono-ethnic character and repeated violations of the regular legal process”, the letter points.
On paper these organisations have also had calls for the US to thoroughly investigate the process and take the necessary steps to restore justice and responsibility to the process in The Hague.
For the United States Government: We urge you to thoroughly investigate this matter and take all necessary steps to restore justice, justice and responsibility to this unilateral process”, says the end of the letter.
