Speaking at the European leaders' summit in Hungary, Zelensky criticised those calling on Ukraine to meet some of the demands of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and urged Europe and the United States not to weaken reports after the election of Donald Trump president of the US.
There's been a lot of voices about the need to submit to Putin, retreat, do some concessions... This is unacceptable for Ukraine and suicide for all of Europe”, Zelensky said.
He accused some European leaders, not to mention anyone by name, that “enabled” is pushing Ukraine “to do concessions” with Putin, something that, according to Ukrainian leaders, would encourage even more aggression.
We need more weapons, not support in the talks. The hugs with Putin won't help. Some of you have embraced what 20 years and things are only getting worse”, Zelensky said during the summit, according to the speech provided by the AFP.
The summit host is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has consistently rejected Western support for Kiev.
Zelensky also urged Europe to hold strong reports with the US following Trump's victory in the November 5th presidential election.
Trump has repeatedly criticised US aid to Ukraine and declared it will end the war that Russia starts against Ukraine in 2022 hours after taking office. / REL/
