Wall Street Journal: Trump team intends to postpone Ukraine's NATO membership for at least 20 years

An idea within US President-elect Donald Trump's team to end Russia's war includes delaying Kiev's NATO membership for at least 20 years in exchange for continued arms supplies, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on November 6th, citing three sources close to [...]
Trump, who won the presidential election on November 5th, has repeatedly said he would end the war within “24 hours” and remove the US “from Ukraine”.
Previous media reports and statements from the Trump's inner circle indicated that this would bring the freeze of war on current front lines and create a demilitarised area in the east, a claim supported by W sources SJ.
This proposal is just one of the ideas that circulates on the Trump team, and the elected president has a tendency to make important political decisions in the country, sources said.
Ukraine submitted a NATO membership application in 2022, but has not received an invitation, receiving a cold response from US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and others.
Both Kiev and Moscow said it would not be possible to complete the war within 24 hours, as Trump claims. Ukraine has been determined not to recognise the Russian invasion of its territories, but has acknowledged that some may have to be released by diplomatic means.
