The US UNMIK report on the situation in Kosovo: Maintain neutrality in future reports

Ambassador Robert Wood, alternative representative for US Political Special Affairs at the UN Security Council, during the discussion of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres's Kosovo report, except for the removal of the UNMIK mission in Kosovo, he also had a remarks on the report. US appealed to U NMIC to maintain neutrality in future reports.
“We also call on UNMIK, in the upcoming report, to take a neutral view, to better reflect UNMIK's impartiality”.
The one at the beginning of the speech said the US praised efforts U n The NMIC has done in advancing interethnic dialogue and reform of the rule of law in Kosovo, but said there are other UN agencies in Kosovo that do this job more appropriately.
“We are also obliged to admit that there are other UN resident agencies in Kosovo that are doing this kind of work more appropriately. After a quarter century, U n NMIC has exceeded its original mandate, and United States Urges Council to Review U n NMIK in Kosovo and work westward on its evental”.
Wood also said there are far greater time requirements for the Security Council, “sic, as we all know”, and said these information on Kosovo should be reduced to private annual meetings.
The US has criticised Serbia for failing to take responsibility for those involved in Banjska's terrorist attack.
The “have been spending more than a year since the Serb paramilitary attack at the Kosovo Police station near the Banjska Monastery in northern Kosovo, and Serbia has made no significant progress in holding those involved, including the self-declared leader of the attack, Milan Radojic. We demand full accountability in line with rule of law”, he said.
And without criticism, neither did Kosovo.
“We also remain concerned about the uncoordinated actions undertaken by the Government of Kosovo, which are not in line with Kosovo's commitment to work through EU facilitated dialogue. These actions affect the well-being of vulnerable and non-communicable communities and undermine the path towards normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia”.
The United States, Wood said, shares the aspirations of Western Balkan people, including Kosovo and Serbia, to build a greater regional economic integration, promote regional stability, democracy and multiethnic societies, and protect the rule of law.
The EU-mediated “Dialog is the agreed path to normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo and progress towards membership in European institutions”.
Wood said the United States continues to work with the EU, the OSCE and NATO partners for the “kept low tensions in northern Kosovo; to prevent escalation measures from each side; and to push forward in implementing all dialogue commitments between Serbia and Kosovo, including the establishment of the Serb majority municipalities' association. We warn both sides against uncoordinated or escalating actions and urge them to resolve the issues within the frame of dialogue”.
The final goal of the United States remains the eventual mutual recognition”, it concluded.
