Albania's Freedom Party Chairman, Ilir Meta, has reacted to the session, which will be held Tuesday at the Court of Appeals, where reassessing the measure of security against him will be considered. Meta has stated that there is information that unauthorized persons will hold a protest outside the court's environments during the session's development.
He stressed that his political force is not organising any rally before the JKKO, and appealed that his sympathies do not join the protest.
Meta underlined that his legal battle has based it on presenting the truths before the court and denouncing the lack of evidence in the process that, according to him, is purely political.
Ilir Meta's statement:
Dear members and supporters of the Freedom Party!
As you are aware, tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., court hearings are held at the Court of Appeal (GJKKO) with the object of revocation of the illegal prison arrest measure applied to me for a month.
I'm aware of the initiatives of people not authorized by me or spontaneous to protest before the court.
I let you know that such actions are useless and harmful.
My legal battle was based on the preamble of all truths before the court denouncing the existence of evidence against me in this very political process.
In these conditions, any collection or protest before the court on Judgment Day I consider as a distraction of public opinion to the core of the issue, so I urge you to distance yourself from any initiative for assembly and protest.
Yours, Ilir Meta
