In Albania, the Special Prosecutor against Corruption and Organised Crime on Tuesday sought a four-year prison sentence Tuesday for former Durres Mayor Vangjush Dako. Arrested in June 2023, Mr. Dako has been under house arrest since February of this year, after the Court found that detention terms during preliminary investigations had ended, ordering his release as a result.
So the former mayor has been charged with “Using task” in cooperation, in two cases. The first is related to the procedure of granting permission to build a multi-story building, as well as to completing documentation until the property census. The completion of the construction permit under the Prosecutor's Office has taken place three years after the construction was completed, then writing out the required documentation.
The second case relates to the procedure of a tender for the project of a mall along the coast, with a fund of 21 million dollars. According to the investigation, the estimate of the limit fund has been made incorrectly, placing a value several times higher, and that no measures have been taken to correct the mistake, though it was noted by acts of the State High Control.
The case against him passed for trial in April. He has denied the accusations and chose a cut trial. If convicted, it will benefit a third landing.
Cutting judgment has demanded three more people involved in the process. Charged to commit “criminal offence Falsification of seals, stamps and forms of”, the entrepreneur, also manager of the construction company Fiqiri Farcu, and two engineers, one topographer and another who has completed the building's colluding. For all three, the prosecutor sought a three-year prison sentence, but also the suspension of the sentence. For Farcuk because of old age and health, between them for the other two, because they have children of minor age and health problems.
