It has become more than four years since Kosovo has received no recognition.
Our country received its final recognition from Israel in September 2020 as a result of the Washington deal.
Awareers say Kosovo these years had no strategy focused on bringing new recognitions to the country. And the Foreign Ministry has not returned answers for RTK not even after a week of effort.
An agreement on normalising economic relations with Serbia, signed in Washington on September 4th 2020, brought Kosovo the latest recognition of its citizenship.
Israel and Kosovo officially established diplomatic relations after four months. Since then, Kosovo has received no other recognition, not even from the five European Union -- Greece, Romania, Spain, Slovakia and Cyprus.
The Slovak state that remains in the stance that Kosovo's independence violates Serbia's territorial integrity recently announced at the end of the year will close the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Slovakia in Pristina, as they have said due to the reshuffle of the diplomatic network and budget reduction.
And despite the approach of relations seen in the last two years with the Greek state, recognition of the state of Kosovo by Hellenes does not appear on the horizon, however, in many cases has supported Kosovo for membership in international organisations.
Awareers say Kosovo these years had no strategy focused on bringing new recognitions to the country.
We don't have focused, individual, state for state, government for government, because that's the best way to increase the potential for new recognition, you can't do the same strategy to lobbie around the world”, said about RTK Professor Valon Myrtezaj.
Meanwhile, former diplomat Blerim Canaj said the government did not have clear foreign policy strategies.
“We in this government have not had a clear foreign policy strategy, and second, all recognitions, all memberships by international organisations, always been done with the support of partners, and now we are in a situation, which even our partners have, even -- we have been clearly told several times by American partners”, he said.
Myrtezaj says Kosovo should not forget how important membership in international organisations and for Canay is, the government has not been honest with its partners.
“We can't say that there has been a lobby, but the result has not been seen, but should not be lobbied, another dimension is membership in international institutions, because the burden of a state in the modern-day international relations system is measured by bilateral recognitions and memberships in international organisations”, Myrtezaj said.
We were not honest with our partners, we had to perform certain tasks, and we never did, and we never kept our word, until they were withdrawn from us”, Canay said.
The media for a week has insisted on an answer by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but that the latter did not speak of recognitions.
