Opposition MPs Government: Insufficient Budget Divisions for Independent Institutions

With six votes to and no counter, members of the Commission for Public Administration, Local Powers, Media and Regional Development have recommended to the Commission on Boards to review the Kosovo Independent Civil Supervisor Council's demand to increase the budget for this institution, after increasing the number of members on this Council, says Economy [...]
The criticism of not enough budgeting for independent institutions in the Bill on the budgetary divisions for Kosovo's 2025 budget is presented to opposition deputies, who also criticised that the budget review is being done with accelerated procedures.
Commission Chairman Valon Ramadani has said that they have accepted a request from this Council and that the same request is submitted without additional recommendations to the Commission for Buxe, to be considered and sent to the second reading session of the Bill on the Budget Divisions of Kosovo for 2025.
MP The PDK, Mergim Lushtaku, has said it is disturbing that the demands of independent budget institutions are not taken into account by the government.
He said that as a result, these institutions are facing problems.
The “is disturbing because for the fact that we have received the demands of the institutions that report us. It is short term to consider the requirements. This review is unfair in just two days because this bill should have sufficient time to prepare institutions for actual function. We have consistently seen that neither RTK nor the Independent Civil Supervisor Council, nor the Independent Commission for Media. Independent institutions are disturbing how they handle these requirements. It's the fourth year RTK's had a large budget removed from”, he said.
LDK MP Agim Veliu has said that reviewing the budget in the Commission is being done with quick procedures, not giving them sufficient time to address the demands of institutions.
“Although it is not worth discussing at such meetings because it is being done with unnecessary haste. It's been a while since I've been going through law enforcement procedures. Regarding the request of Kosovo's Independent Civil Supervisor Council, which argues what I'm saying. This is a reasonable and mandatory requirement because with the approval of the law, the number of members has changed, that increase has had to be reflected in the budget and has not been put into the budget. The budget should be approved in normal procedures without rushing”, he said.
VV MP Besim Muzaqi has said that as the majority guarantees that each institution will function regularly and that sufficient means will be set apart for each.
“The concern should be if there were delays. It's a record budget for numbers. We guarantee that each institution of how it worked without shortages will not go wrong, enough tools” will be shared, he said.
