Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed his defence minister, Yoav Gallant, on Tuesday because of, as he said, the numerous “differences between them” about Israel's military operations management.
The decision came after continuing disagreements between the two Israeli officials since the start of the Gaza war.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said that, between him and Minister Gallant there was a “trust crisis” that prevented proper war management, according to a report published by his office.
Minister Gallant reacted to the X platform, saying Israel's “security was and will always be the mission of my life. ”
Prime Minister Netanyah appointed Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz to replace Minister Gallant in the position of defence minister, while appointing Mr. Gideon Saar as the new foreign minister, according to the announcement by his office.
An earlier effort in March 2023 to dismiss Minister Gallant sparked widespread protests. / VOA
