Writer and publicist Fatos Lubonja, invited to the studio of “Open” in News24, has commented on Donald Trump's return to the White House.
Lubonja has stressed that the return of Trump could bring significant risks to democracy, both in the United States and other countries of the world.
Lubonja has noted that Prime Minister Edi Rama has made a statement in the past calling Trump a “threat to the world” and, according to the analyst, now Rama has the obligation to clarify what he has said.
“Rama has said that Trump is a danger to the world, now has the obligation to clarify that statement,” said Lubonja, adding that there are concerns about the risks that should bring about the return of Trump. He also mentioned concerns the American opinion has expressed about the way Trump can influence domestic and foreign policy of the US and other countries.
Lubonne pointed out that one of the reasons Trump can be dangerous is his tendency toward authoritarianism. “Trump is an authoritarian leader who does not believe in democracy, but it is one for strong executive and becomes dangerous in America,” said the analyst.
He criticised Trump's approach to the war in Ukraine, stressing that Trump, in addition to proposing an agreement with Putin to resolve “ ” conflict, does not see it as an issue that must be resolved through democratic institutions.
Lubonne called this approach of Trump “threatening for Europe”, stressing that such a model could encourage other authoritarian leaders, including Prime Minister Rama. “This pattern promised to Europe is encouraging to the man we have in power, who will remain in power,” he added. / BW
