On average, 2 thousand businesses close in Kosovo within a year, the Kosovar Alliance of Business said, but according to it there are about 8 thousand other new businesses opening in the same period of time. The Kosovo Business Connection considers there are many factors that affect the state of business, which is considered fragile. [...]
Doing business activity in Kosovo is recently on the rise. According to a research by the Kosovo Alliance of Business, within a year an average closes about 2 thousand businesses in Kosovo. Kosovo Business Alliance Chairman Agim Sahini, in addition to a number of reasons why businesses close has also listed the lack of workforce.
From 2002 onward, businesses in Kosovo close around 2,000 and open over 8 thousand. If we analyze the causes of closure, it's different. From what you lose power in the market, why there is no support, why banking is high and infrastructure is too expensive, including rent, electricity. Business charge and competitiveness power are reasons that businesses are closing down, and finally the workforce”, Sahin told Rtv21.
Kosovo Business League Chairman Besart Dresaj says that factors for closing businesses are a serious economic situation, but also a difficult business environment.
Unfortunately, we have a large number of businesses closing down in Kosovo. This issue is disturbing because it is delivering a message that there are many factors here that affect business situations. One of them is a clear message that in Kosovo, the economic situation and doing business is in poor condition. We as the League of Businesses have been calling on the government to continue to have fiscal political changes because businesses are in extremely bad condition”, Dresaj said.
These business spending figures for Kosovo's economy are alarming, says economist Lulzim Beqiri.
According to him, businesses in Kosovo face numerous challenges.
The “is certainly disturbing because the economy is weak. You take it to base the import we have. Kosovo institutions are currently taking pride in the import they have, while businesses are facing closure as lack of economic activity in Kosovo. This comes as a result of access to finance, over-high loans, a legal neglect to economic problems, and the shit businesses are forced to disrupt their” activity, Beqiri has declared.
According to the Business Recording Agency in Kosovo, from March 2021 to September of this year in Kosovo, over 400,000 businesses have been registered. The demand for business deregulation is estimated at over 5,000, or about 8 percent.
