French Ambassador to Kosovo Olivier Guerot, in an interview, has been talking about dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, the Association of Serb majority municipalities, the situation in four municipalities in northern Kosovo and local elections.
Asked how he would assess the current relations between France and Kosovo, Guerot stresses that nothing has changed to Kosovo's “established and decisive support for Kosovo's independence and sovereignty”.
France's “Return to KFOR testifies to our dedication to the stability of the region, and especially Kosovo. We have regular high-level contacts with President Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti, who recently visited Paris at a bilateral economic forum and where there was a meeting with Mr. Benjamin Haddad, minister of France. France has just opened the Culture Institute in Pristina, which will work not only in Pristina, but throughout Kosovo's territory with the government to support several key projects for the country's development and its European integration. Relations between France and the Republic of Kosovo are good and growing, despite the differences we have when it comes to the dialogue of Kosovo and Serbia with EU mediation”, Guerot says of Kosovo Online.
Speaking to the Association, Guerot said the European draft state should be sent to the Constitution.
“In particular we stress Kosovo's importance to submit the European Community of Serb Majority draft status to the Constitutional Court for review. With our colleagues from QUINT and the EU, we are especially cautious about possible possible unilateral moves with potentially serious impacts on the Serbian population, especially in the field of health and education”, he adds.
