Secretary - General NATO, Mark Rutte, has asked NATO member states and other Western partners to send more aid to Ukraine as winter approaches.
Speaking after a meeting with Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics at the Adazi military base, Rutte warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin would use the winter as weapons”.
Rutte warned Russia would try to destroy Ukraine's electricity system, writes yahoonews.
“This is why we all need to increase aid for Ukraine, including air defence, to protect critical infrastructure”, he said.
NATO members must also increase their defence spending and boost weapons production.
Rutte and Rinkevic participated in training of the Latvia-based multinational NATO Brigade, which was being exercised together in full readiness for the first time
Nearly 3,500 soldiers from 13 NATO nations participated in the “Resolute Warrior” exercise.
