Measles have increased by over 200 percent in the European region during the past year in the midst of global growth. It's this alarm raised by O In the recently released annual report.
According to the World Health Organization's joint report and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were more than 306,000 cases in the region, which includes parts of Central Asia in 2023, from about 997700 to 2022.
According to the report, there were 10.3 million cases of measles worldwide last year. This represented an increase of 20 percent worldwide from 2022.
Fruit is a highly contagious virus that affects children mostly, but it can be prevented by two doses of vaccines. It can lead to health complications and death.
Covering 95 percent or more of a country or community is necessary to prevent measles.
The report estimates that worldwide only 83 percent of children received a first dose of a measles vaccine last year, and slightly less than three quarters received a second dose.
