Last night, in the qualifying match between Romania and Kosovo in Beauret, local fans unveiled a slogan “Kosovo is Serbia”. As a result of this slogan, the game judge interrupted the match for several minutes because of discriminated comments.
During the match pause, Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi made a post that has sparked numerous reactions in Romanian media.
“There is no slogan that changes our reality! As of February 17th 2008, Kosovo is an independent state, meanwhile, since May 3rd 2016, Kosovo has been a full-fledged member of UEFA. Political slogans, fascist choirs, whistles and insults towards our boys and Kosovo in Romania do not stop us”, Memli Krasniqi wrote.
Furthermore, he said that Kosovo, both as a state and as a national footballer, will proudly appear around the world, even where we are not wanted and especially there.
“We have worked hard for this day and do not give up to small fascist fascists. Eternal is Kosovo!”, has completed his writing of the Kosovo opposition leader.
Through Romanian media, Krasniqi's statements have caught the forehead of sports media and not only, calling the match's poor organisation in Romania and fascist slogans as “Diplomatic Scandal”.
