Krasniqi: Elections in the north not by resignation, only by petition

Local Power Management Minister Elbert Krasniqi said the request for the resignation of the northern municipalities comes from Belgrade.

According to him, Kosovo institutions should not worry about demands coming from Serbia and that the resignation of four leaders is a moral act.

Kosovo is a constructive side in this process, we already have from 25 per cent of the state of police from municipal objects, and we have Administrative Guide to petition citizens for the departure of mayors, these are actions of the government's good will”.

There is no authority that might demand resignation, that is a moral act. I've continued to meet the mayors, they've supported the petition process and they think this is democracy and we have to take care of democracy, not of anyone's wishes. The chairman's resignation is Belgrade's request, we are not here to worry about what you think and what Belgrade wants we are here as the institution to look after democracy”, Krasniqi has said. / EO
