Police Union Chairman Imer Zeqiri has said it is the last moment for the Government to turn its attention to the Kosovo Police and meet the demands of the police.
By contrast, Zeqiri said there will be protests in the escape of police professionals. This year alone, about 50 police officers have quit.
According to him, discontent is collective for a host of issues. First, Zeqiri said it has been more than half a year that police officers are not being paid extras for risk. As unions, he said they did not expect a “damage such as” with the new Law of Salaries.
In addition, he said that KK is the only police officer in the world without health insurance. This has been their number one requirement, at the same time, of the Law for Pensioning, since Kosovo has the oldest police in the region.
“Incompatibility is collective, even in the unimpressed part of the civil servants within the Kosovo Police, about the additional risk share. More than six months are going on, so this is the seventh month, that police officials are not executed in the salaries extras for risky”.
On this issue, Zeqiri said they have also filed complaints with the ombudsman.
We've had it adjusted before, and now we have it with the Law on Police. We've made constant demands on this matter. We also sent him to the ombudsman because we disagree with the shortcomings in the new Law of the Pagans. Retirement for riskability has been placed with one percent of the wage budget that is not enough to risk”.
“Detail with the new Law of Salaries at the Kosovo police institution we have not expected, because we have had demands that many years ago”.
While saying Kosovo has the oldest police in the region, he has demanded that the Pension Law be adopted, that police retire at age 55, as well as have a better pension than the usual one.
This request too, as he put it, is imminent.
“We are the only police in the world without health and life insurance that has been required number one. We've offered the way we can make the police with alternative health insurance, but we still haven't received answers from police”.
“We are officers without Pension Law. This has been a requirement since seven or ten years ago that the pension law be made at 55 because, among other things, the average age has managed to be very high compared to the countries of the region. We've reached the age of 47-48, so we're the oldest police in the region. This has been a requirement for police to be refreshed, but also for the police official when retired, to have a dignified pension, not a 100 euro”.
These problems, along with some others, such as not paying shush, official trips or rewards at the end of the year, are why police officers are leaving their jobs.
For Zeqiri, this is extremely disturbing, and most of the police leave is damaged by the country and the institution itself.
The majority of police officials are not paid dues, are not paid official travel or a reward for the end of the year, even though these are regulated by law. Therefore, they are expressing disappointment, with protests instead of work, or voluntary resignations. It's extremely disturbing to resign to the Kosovo Police because we're running out of professionals”.
He told EO that if it continues “so” the exits of police will only get more frequent, when only this year around 50 have resigned.
If this continues and does not improve these conditions and demands of all Kosovo Police members, we warn that the resignations will continue. Who will be hurt more than the state and institution itself? I think it's the last time the government turns its attention to the Kosovo Police. This year, the number of voluntary resignations behaves around 50. It's more disturbing, but the most disturbing thing is that we have warnings that resignations will continue if conditions” are not improved, he said.
